The Warriors travelled to Pencoed for what turned out to be a breathtaking and dramatic encounter. Pencoed drew first blood early on, but Whitchurch responded immediately with Enzo Kawol crashing over to level things at 5-5. Elliott Simpson then put the Warriors ahead before Pencoed hit back with a converted try to lead 12-10 at the break.
The second half was an absolute rollercoaster. Enzo grabbed his second try to nudge Whitchurch back in front at 12-15, only for Pencoed to respond again and retake the lead at 19-15. Jacob then crossed the whitewash to edge the Warriors ahead 19-20, before Pencoed struck again to make it 24-20.
What followed was a stunning spell of rugby from Whitchurch. Rory Murphy, Josh Thomas and Ben Sarsam scored in quick succession - all converted by Luca Harrison - to put the Warriors 41-24 ahead with just 5 minutes remaining. A late Pencoed try couldn't deny the lads a magnificent away victory.
A proper team performance from start to finish. The resilience shown after trailing at half time was outstanding - the boys never stopped believing. Warriors! 🖤🤍
