Whitchurch RFC Under 15s
Elliott is a splendid all round forward who plays in the second row and the back row, and he is rarely anywhere other than the thick of it.
The second row and the back row are two very different jobs, and Elliott does both. In the second row he is the engine of the scrum and the target in the lineout, putting his shoulder into the pack and lifting off the floor when the ball goes up. In the back row he is let off the leash, in the loose and at the breakdown, covering every blade of grass between the two twenty-twos. Not every forward can move between the two without losing anything. Elliott can.
The team sheets tell the story. This season he has worn 4 and 5 in the second row, and 6 at blindside flanker in the back row, so he has been pointed at three different shirts and has made each of them look comfortable.
What he is known for is simple. He puts himself about. Elliott is always in the game: tackling, hitting rucks, and getting the ball in his hands and going forward. Nobody has to ask him to find work. He has usually found it already, and he is generally on the way back for more.
Away from rugby, Elliott enjoys taking his cat for a walk. It is not something you see every day, and we have a lot of questions, none of which the cat has answered. Anyone who has ever owned a cat will know that cats do not generally go where they are told, so we assume the route is largely decided by the cat, with Elliott in support, which is a good description of how a flanker behaves around the ball.
It is probably better preparation for a Sunday than it sounds. Staying calm, staying patient and keeping hold of something with very clear ideas of its own about where it wants to go is, after all, a fair description of carrying the ball into contact.

Backing our players, one season at a time.
Elliott is proud to be sponsored this season by Easy Security Systems, a Taffs Well based business that installs, supplies and maintains security systems for homes and businesses across Cardiff, Caerphilly and South Wales. They are SSAIB accredited and cover CCTV, intruder alarms, fire alarms, access control and intercoms, with maintenance contracts and police and keyholder monitoring.
You will already know their name if you have seen the Warriors play, because it is across the front of every shirt in the team. They are the club's kit sponsor, which makes them the most visible supporter we have, and they appear in every team photograph.
A security specialist and a flanker also have more in common than you might think. One keeps a close eye on everything that is going on around the property, and the other spends his afternoons keeping a close eye on everything that is going on around the ball. And a man who takes a cat for a walk is clearly someone who takes his security seriously.
Sponsorship like this is what keeps this team on the pitch. It covers kit, tournament entries and the travel that gets the boys to games, and it means every player gets the same chance whatever is going on at home. Our thanks to everyone at Easy Security Systems for getting behind Elliott and the Warriors this season.
